Core Barreling

Core Barreling

Drilling through metres of earth and rock is no simple business, there’s a lot to consider before making a decision on what size and method is the one to go with.

When drilling with a standard auger isn’t viable, care barrelling is usually the operation that saves the day. With less surface area to cut thanks to the relatively thin walls of the barrel, resistance is greatly reduced and the shaft can be drilled quicker and more efficiently.

Our extensive range of available core barrel sizes is second to none:

125mm – 300mm – 450mm – 600mm – 750mm – 900mm – 1500mm

Sometimes an auger is required to augment the core barrel, which we will determine as part of our assessment of the soil foundations. If an auger is required to support the core barrelling process, we have an exhaustive range of augers for drilling through all kinds of rock.

Our augers are available in a wide range of sizes:

90mm – 140mm – 250mm – 300mm – 350mm – 450mm – 500mm – 600mm – 750mm – 900mm – 1200mm – 1500mm – 2000mm

Our barrels and augers can drill to a depth of up 12.4 metres.

Do you have a difficult or unusual job to complete? We’ve engineered solutions for a wide variety of projects that would leave other companies scratching their heads.

We have the ability to drill against existing walls without any risk of damaging the wall.

Our team can prepare custom-made casings that enable us to safely drill against existing Telstra poles without the need for a supporting crane.

We also possess the expertise to configure a tail boom to allow an excavator to drill over cliff faces.

Upon request we are able to supply and install the cages, concrete, and capping beams you need to finish the job.

We can safely and effectively drill in sandy and muddy conditions.

We are able to custom design whatever parts are required to complete the job, no matter how tough or complicated the circumstances.

We can custom design:

  • Vertical casings for Continuous Flight Augers
  • Alignment systems for straight/vertical piers
  • Drill casings
  • Smudge bars
  • Buckets
  • Hammers

Think you’ll struggle to get everything onto your job site? Think again. We can arrange the truck and float needed to transport the necessary machinery and parts anywhere in Australia or Tasmania.
